The Asian-American community has been experiencing discrimination, physical assault and verabal harrassment at historically high rates, stoked by a full year of attacks from the Oval Office during Trump's administration. For Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities who hold multiple marginalized identities, discrimination and its consequences can be even more severe. We cannot ignore the misogyny of the attacks in Georgia, and other attacks we have seen across this nation. We cannot ignore the deadly homophobia, biphobia and transphobia too many AAPI people face. We also cannot ignore that AAPI immigrants’ safety and inclusion remain under constant attack in this country. For AAPI people living at the intersections, they are facing a multi-fronted battle to live their lives openly and safely.
And please consider posting to your social media to spread awareness and to stop hate in its tracks. We must be visible and vigilant. #StopAsianHate
I’d like to leave a message of support to those in the Asian-American community when they need it the most.
