Alabama’s economic recovery cannot afford the cost of discrimination!

Alabama legislators to hear anti-transgender youth bill in committee THIS WEDNESDAY— tell them to VOTE NO.

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary and Senate Healthcare Committees will push to advance a measure that would impose penalties against doctors providing best practice medical care for transgender youth.

This bill not only targets our transgender youth but is blatantly discriminatory and incredibly egregious -- especially when Alabamians are already facing the harms of COVID-19.

Tell the Chair and Vice-Chair of the House Judiciary and Senate Healthcare Committees to STOP the attacks against transgender youth and focus on Alabama’s economy!

Dear Chair and Vice Chair,

As an Alabama resident and supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, I am writing today to ask that you stop anti-transgender youth legislation that is being considered by your committee and other members of the legislature. With Alabama facing an economic shortfall and working to recover from the impact of COVID-19, this proposed measure will not only subject young Alabamians to further discrimination, but will also ultimately have a significant impact on the state’s economic recovery.  
HB 1 and SB 10 would impose criminal penalties on medical professionals providing science-based and medically needed care to transgender youth— care that is supported by the leading medical authorities and is often considered to be lifesaving.

HB 1 and SB 10 are blatantly discriminatory, and I believe discrimination is not a value of Alabamians. Plus, any efforts to pass anti-transgender youth legislation will only cost the state of Alabama its reputation and ultimately will cost the taxpayers. We’re already facing the economic impact of COVID-19, and Alabama honestly can’t afford to pay the cost of passing such dangerous legislation.

Please REJECT and STOP anti-transgender youth legislation that comes before you!
