CELEBRATE:
Thank leaders in Albany for repealing the Walking While Trans ban!

Today is a new day for transgender New Yorkers. The #WalkingWhileTrans Ban has been repealed. On Tuesday, Senator Brad Hoylman and Assemblymember Amy Paulin’s bill to repeal a dangerous and discriminatory law colloquially known as “Walking While Trans,” passed with bipartisan support and was immediately signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo. For over four decades, New York Loitering for the Purpose of Prostitution law allowed police to profile, harass and arrest Black and brown transgender women simply for existing. It is now a thing of the past.

Send a note of thanks to Governor Cuomo, Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, Speaker Heastie, and bill sponsors Senator Hoylman and Assemblymember Paulin for hearing New York’s transgender community's call for change and for making this important issue an early priority of this legislative session.
