J.K. Rowling’s Transphobic Comments are Unacceptable. Let’s Send Her A Message.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling recently doubled down on her harmful transphobic views and used her platform to spread anti-trans propaganda that is as factless as it is shameful. Her comments hurt millions of fans who grew up loving the wizarding world she built and did real harm to the trans and non-binary community ... and she did so after ignoring all outreach efforts from LGBTQ groups like the Human Rights Campaign on the matter.

Let's be clear here: Trans women are women, and Rowling’s attempt to hide behind the mantle of trans-exclusive feminism hurts both the trans and feminist communities. That’s unacceptable.

HRC wants to invite her to our table to discuss ... in a way she may recognize. Join HRC in sending her an "owl" with a message asking her to accept HRC's invitation to discuss her comments. If she doesn't respond to these, then howlers may be required.

Send your owl now and ask Rowling to join this important conversation.

My name is [NAME] and I am asking you to join the Human Rights Campaign in conversation on the issues and experiences of the transgender community.

Your recent comments were misguided and hurtful. They hurt millions of fans who love the wizarding world you built and they did real harm to the trans and non-binary community ... and you doubled down on your hurtful statements without accepting prior invitations to speak with LGBTQ groups like HRC.

HRC is extending an invitation to join in the conversation and I hope that you’ll accept. The trans community is among the world’s most marginalized and endangered populations worldwide -- please join HRC and learn how to better use your platform to help.

Thank you for reading. I look forward to your conversation.

Thank you,
