Alexis Bittar, Bruce Cohen & Human Rights Campaign are pleased to invite you to a special evening screening of Reclaim The Flag, a documentary by Alexis Bittar & Bruce Cohen.

As America approaches the commemoration of its 250th anniversary, this moment invites reflection on what patriotism truly means—and for the LGBTQ+ community, that reflection is both deeply personal and profoundly American. 

Our history is marked by extraordinary progress alongside painful setbacks in the ongoing pursuit of full equality. Woven throughout that story are acts of courage: standing up to oppression, demanding dignity, and fighting for the freedom to live authentically. These acts are not apart from the American story—they are a core expression of it.

Reclaim The Flag is more than a film. It is a call to recognize and affirm a simple truth: this country belongs to all of us. No single group or movement owns the American flag. The Stars and Stripes symbolize the diverse people who call this nation home—including LGBTQ+ Americans whose love, labor, and sacrifice have helped shape it.

This project invites our community and our allies to embrace a shared patriotism—one rooted not in exclusion, but in the enduring promise of liberty and justice for all. Together, we reclaim the flag, and with it, our rightful place in the American story.
