As a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, I am extremely disappointed in your decision to drop your company’s participation in the HRC Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and other diversity, equity and inclusion programs. You just made a major decision for your company, because one internet troll got you scared!

LGBTQ+ people and our allies are your employees and your customers — and dropping us will have huge implications on your business, your fiduciary responsibilities and future profits.

Did you know that 30% of Gen Z identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community? These are your future workers and customers.  This shortsighted decision you’ve made will have long-term consequences.

Plus, withdrawing your participation in the CEI only continues to hurt your customers and employees who want to feel that they belong in your corporate family.

The CEI has been a leader in creating safe spaces and safe work environments for LGBTQ+ people for over 20 years— in fact today, over 1,300 businesses participate. These companies are doing the right thing for LGBTQ+ people and for their bottom line!

So I urge you to do the right thing: reinstate your DEI initiatives, including the CEI … support your LGBTQ+ employees and suppliers … welcome LGBTQ+ customers and their allies … and stop listening to manufactured outrage from MAGA bullies!
