Tell the NCAA: Protect Trans Athletes Now!

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), just voted to severely restrict transgender athletes from competing in college sports under their umbrella; we can’t let the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) follow their lead. Take action with HRC now to protect trans athletes by signing our petition opposing any restrictions or bans in the NCAA.

Banning transgender athletes is discriminatory and puts schools at risk of litigation under Title IX rules. Enforcing a ban would also increase the already elevated rates of sexual harassment all women and girls face, police women’s bodies based on gender stereotypes and push transgender youth further to the margins.

The NCAA should base policies on facts, not on a small subset of people committed to erasing the rights of transgender people.

We don’t have much time to act. Call on the NCAA to be on the right side of history by protecting trans athletes and their right to play college sports today!

As supporters of the Human Rights Campaign, we, the undersigned, urge the NCAA to oppose any bans on transgender athletes playing sports.
